Over the years in Africa, women merely take up traditional family roles; this means they are not encouraged to go to school as it is seen as a waste of resources. As civilization creeped it, learned people saw the importance of sending the female child to school, and that compounding over the years has championed the empowering of women in all aspects of life, including science, technology, politics, the arts, and culture.

Jinah Abass, a Kenyan-born entrepreneur and businesswoman, is the founder and CEO of Lani Insurance Technology and Lami Direct Insurance, all based in Kenya.
