This writer defines technological/tech anxiety as the overwhelming feeling and discomforting emotions, that sometimes affect our actions and quality of living, when one uses, thinks of technology, and/or as a result of advancements from technology.
With the vast use of technology in almost everything done- ranking from a developing environment, it is more than normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes by technology. If it can happen from people as seen in social anxiety, why can you not feel drained from technology? We will be divulging into technological anxiety and tips to keep you, well, grounded.
Technology taking over the world from you
Everything is happening so fast, I cannot keep up with the digital world of real world
I have a huge FOMO!!!…
The fact that mental health is a rising matter of awareness today is soothing, but people sometimes downplay the effect of technology today on our emotions. Tech anxiety can surface in various forms, and affected by different factors not limited to the ones above. So, if you feel or have felt any one these ways before, keep reading, this article is for all of us. I’ll be referencing every fear to a way forward.
Fear: Technology taking over the world from you
AI is taking the world by storm, and the fear of it taking over the world has caused stirs and has been depicted in some movies and articles. As helpful as this advancement has become, its inclusiveness in almost every sector of life has stirred emotions of it being able replace the human workforce.

Do not stop putting yourself out there, the only way someone or something can take something away from you is if it was not yours in the first place or if you give them reasons to- and the first thing would be laziness and careless attitude towards work. Engage in learning and perfecting your skills, because you have been designed with a special machine called your brain.
Fear: Everything is happening so fast, I cannot keep up with the digital world or real world
Everything about the digital world is fast and can come as overwhelming to an average person. Trying to keep up with new trends, learning the digital skills, the world now moves like a dynamic code, with the urgent need to crack it or you could somehow get thrown out. What is today, might not be tomorrow.

Usually, this school of thought is predominant with young people, and those going through midlife crisis, probably after been thrown out of their jobs, due to one thing or another. I believe if there is one thing we should take away from technology, it should be change. Now, humans are already subject to change, so we should become innovative in our changes- do not stop re-inventing yourself, try to create a schedule that works for you and do not put unnecessary pressure on yourself, because you’ve got this and you have time.
Fear: Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)
This is pretty much as it sounds. And it goes to all those who pressure themselves to be included in any and everything. Usually, this happens in the social media aspect of tech, but people also put themselves in niches that are unnecessary just to feel among.
Forward:
You have to understand yourself and know your passion. Know your purpose and it will automatically drive to constantly develop yourself towards areas that actually make sense. The pressure is unnecessary because most of the time, nobody is fighting with you, and people are attracted to value. So, elevate yourself to be valuable at what you do and what you can, then watch people try to become YOU.

This article, comes more from a social construct of some sort. I’m sure psychiatrists and other experts may evaluate tech anxiety from another angle. But, at the end of the day, you can fight through these feelings and you do not have to do it alone. Journal, have some meditation practices, eat healthy and exercise, pray to your God, go for walks, talk to friends, seek help and even technology still can help you protect your mental health. The world is evolving and so should you.
