Amazon is doubling down on its return-to-office policy, and the message from leadership is clear: adapt or leave. AWS CEO Matt Garman recently emphasized that employees uncomfortable with the new five-day in-person workweek should consider finding opportunities elsewhere. He remarked, “There are other companies around,” alluding to remote-friendly workplaces, as reported by Reuters.
This stance follows a broader directive from Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy, who announced a full return to the office starting in 2025, an increase from the three-day hybrid model in place for over a year. Amazon is the latest tech giant pushing for in-person work, joining others like Dell, which earlier this year warned employees that remote workers might be passed over for promotions. Amazon CEO previously sent a memo to the company’s employee, calling for a full return to office at the start of 2025.
While these mandates are becoming more common in large corporations, remote work still holds strong appeal for many. Studies reveal that a significant portion of remote workers would rather quit than comply with strict return-to-office policies, indicating that the future of workplace flexibility remains a hot topic.
