United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, a global bank in Africa, has collaborated with MasterCard to launch a commemorative debit card to mark UBA’s 75th anniversary. The collaboration aims to honour UBA’s long-standing customer relationship and enhance its customers’ banking experience with various offers and discounts across multiple platforms.
Speaking at the launch, UBA Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alauba, highlighted that the card comes with certain benefits aimed at rewarding customers. These include an exclusive 25% discount on Jumia purchases and $75 cashback for transactions on AliExpress. He added that the initiative symbolizes UBA and Mastercard’s shared vision of empowering Africans by improving customer experience through secure and convenient transactions.
“This new card represents the deepening of our relationship and our shared mission to empower millions of Nigerians and Africans, by providing them with access to secure transactions and new opportunities across the continent” Alauba said.
The GMD also announced the bank’s plans to introduce similar products across all subsidiaries. “We are proud of this partnership and are confident that Mastercard’s role in Africa will become even stronger in the coming years,” he added.
