The company made this announcement during a safety workshop organized for couriers. These high-visibility jackets aim to improve rider visibility, especially in low-light conditions, thereby reducing accidents and promoting public safety.
Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Bolt’s Acting Head of Regulatory & Policy in Africa, highlighted the company’s commitment to safety, and Bolt’s role in ensuring safe operations. “Safety is central to Bolt’s mission. Bolt’s Safety Workshop
The workshop, organized in partnership with the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), focused on rider safety and responsible driving practices within Abuja. Themed “Empowering Riders for Safe Delivery Journeys,” it brought together Bolt dispatch riders, courier partners, safety experts, and government officials, including representatives from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the FCT Road Safety Council.
The event featured safety sessions on traffic laws, defensive driving, and safe delivery operations. Couriers were also given an opportunity to voice their concerns and suggestions on improving safety and working conditions.
Mandate Secretary for Transportation, FCT, Barr. Chinedu Elechi, praised Bolt for its commitment to road safety and proactive collaboration with the FCT. He emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility and must be prioritized by all. He said the FCT Administration committed to policies that promote safer road practices for all road users, including dispatch riders.
This partnership between Bolt and DRTS demonstrates a collective effort to enhance safety for delivery couriers, who play a critical role in Abuja’s logistics network.
