Jumia has unveiled a new operations centre in Ghana, leasing a substantial 6,000-square-meter space at the Agility Logistics Park (ALP) in Tema. This facility, serving as both a warehouse and office space. This marks a significant strategic investment for the African e-commerce giant as it reinforces its fulfillment capabilities in the country.
Strengthening Jumia’s Presence in Ghana
The new operations centre in Ghana, announced by Jumia’s Regional Head of Communications and PR in Sub-Saharan Africa, Robert Awodu, will act as the company’s nationwide fulfillment center. This will enhance storage capacity, order processing, and shipping capabilities across Ghana. This 10-year lease agreement at ALP underscores Jumia’s commitment to strengthening its service efficiency and improving customer satisfaction.
Navigating Financial Challenges and Strategic Shifts
Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Jumia has weathered a challenging period, reporting a 17% revenue decline to $36.5 million in its latest financial report. However, the company’s constant currency growth of 15% reflects strong performance despite currency devaluations in key markets. Recent efforts to streamline operations have led to a 90% year-over-year decline in operating losses. These included exiting non-performing markets, like its South African fashion line Zando and Tunisian operations, and focusing on core markets such as Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.

ALP: A Hub of Modern Logistics
Located near Tema Port, one of West Africa’s major import hubs, ALP provides Jumia with a logistics advantage. Known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, ALP is home to storage and distribution operations for major multinational and local brands across sectors. The park also incorporates eco-friendly features that optimize energy and water use, aligning with sustainable practices.
