The WhatsApp Beta Channel recently released version 2.24.24.5, which adds a new “Draft” label to the chat list when a message is not sent. It also aims to improve performance and fix existing bugs. However, a new bug was introduced while users were running the new WhatsApp beta which is that the screen turns green when they open a chat.
Fortunately, this is not a green screen issue that will require a phone display replacement or repair. Instead, it will just appear solid green when you open a chat and disappear when you leave WhatsApp. However, this is not the only issue present in the latest beta.
Users also report that the beta app crashes on launch, making WhatsApp unusable. Of course, this is expected, since beta versions of apps are not meant to be as stable as the public versions.
If you are one of the testers having these issues, the only solution is to go back to a stable version that doesn’t seem to have green screens or crash errors on launch. In this case, it is important to note that WhatsApp beta is deployed as an app package, not a standard APK, and you cannot easily revert to an older version due to Android limitations.
Therefore, we recommend uninstalling the beta and installing the latest stable version of WhatsApp (2.24.22.79). Moreover, since many users have reported issues, it is likely that the developer will release a fix soon.
