MTN Nigeria has appointed Yahaya Ibrahim as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Onyinye Ikenna Emeka as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) effective Monday, October 14, 2024. MTN is focused on service excellence driving innovation to strengthen its leadership team in the ever-dynamic telecommunications sector.
Yahaya Ibrahim joined MTN in 2002, bringing extensive expertise in network implementation and infrastructure development. For over two decades, he has contributed to MTN’s technological advancements, including overseeing the rollout of the first 4G and 5G networks in Nigeria.
As General Manager of Network Implementation since 2015, Ibrahim has driven the rollout of over 37,000 kilometres of fibre optic infrastructure, improving connectivity across the country. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja and a Master’s in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University.
Ibrahim has also completed management programs at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School. His technical acumen and vision are expected to lead MTN’s network infrastructure towards greater innovation and resilience.
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka has replaced Adia Sohwo as CMO. Her career at MTN spans two decades, beginning in 2001 as Corporate Sales Executive. Since then, she has held various leadership positions including General Manager Enterprise Sales and Marketing and Chief Broadband Officer.
Ikenna-Emeka has been particularly instrumental in shaping MTN’s fixed broadband business, driving the adoption of Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) solutions. Under her leadership, MTN has over 3 million fixed broadband subscribers, cementing the company’s position as a leader in broadband innovation. Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Geology from the University of Calabar and an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester.
She is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN) and has also completed leadership programs at world-renowned educational institutions such as Harvard University, Stanford University and Said Business School.
Ikenna-Emeka is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at Cranfield University and is a renowned speaker and mentor in the technology and leadership world.
