Currently, it replaces Google Fit on the phone as part of Google’s suite of Android apps. The website suggests that more Android-based devices may ship with Fitbit pre-installed in the future, which is probably to be expected.
In 2021, Google acquired Fitbit. Since the acquisition, Fitbit has been pre-installed on all versions of the Pixel Watch, including the Pixel Watch 3. However, only one smartphone already comes with the Fitbit app: the Oppo Find X8..

If Google continues to offer Fitbit as a pre-installed option on all new Android devices, it could coincide with the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, scheduled for January. This would be a significant step in Google’s strategy to improve its ecosystem and compete more effectively in the health and fitness market. However, if the feature isn’t implemented soon, it may be strategically introduced in the Google Pixel 10 series, which is expected to be announced in the summer or fall of next year.
