If you have an Android phone, you know that it comes with several Google apps pre-installed, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, and more. Future versions of Android may automatically add additional Google apps. As first spotted by 9to5Google, the Oppo Find X8 comes with Google’s Fitbit app pre-installed. Currently, it replaces Google Fit on the phone as part of Google’s suite of Android apps. The website suggests that more Android-based devices may ship with Fitbit pre-installed in the future, which is probably to be expected.
In 2021, Google acquired Fitbit. Since the acquisition, Fitbit has been pre-installed on all versions of the Pixel Watch, including the Pixel Watch 3. However, only one smartphone already comes with the Fitbit app: the Oppo Find X8..
But not everyone is happy with the fact that so many Google apps already come pre-installed on new Android phones. These include Google Search, Chrome, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Photos, YouTube Music, and more. It’s not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to include their pre-installed apps, and as a result, your phone will soon have even more software pre-installed.
If Google continues to offer Fitbit as a pre-installed option on all new Android devices, it could coincide with the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, scheduled for January. This would be a significant step in Google’s strategy to improve its ecosystem and compete more effectively in the health and fitness market. However, if the feature isn’t implemented soon, it may be strategically introduced in the Google Pixel 10 series, which is expected to be announced in the summer or fall of next year.
