Google’s new Black Friday sale includes the best prices yet on the Pixel 9 series. Google has discounted nearly all of its flagship devices, including wearables and tablets, in its new sale. The search company is using a combination of discounts, giveaways, cash back and price protection to lure Pixel 9 buyers away from Best Buy and Amazon, which are offering better prices if you want to buy the device without the perks. Let’s start with the discounts.
For the base Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro models, the discount matches the $150 coupon Google offered to Google One subscribers earlier this month. But this falls short of the massive 31% discount Amazon offered on the base Pixel 9 model two weeks ago, or the $799 Best Buy is currently offering for the 128GB Pixel 9 Pro.
What’s interesting is something we haven’t seen from Google before the company will match the price of “select retail partners” if shoppers find a better deal elsewhere.
Those stores are Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, B&H, and Signifi. Buyers should be able to get the difference back, although a refund request form must be filled out after purchasing the item, and it must be the same model. Google is hoping that the price match and 10% money-back credit to Google One subscribers will be enough to lure buyers away from competitors. They’re also giving away one year of Google One AI Premium cloud storage, six months of Fitbit Premium, and three months of YouTube Premium.
The free cloud storage is a pretty good deal, but it’s not entirely clear how many people will need access to Gemini Advanced. The free trials of YouTube Premium and Fitbit Premium run at other times of the year as well. This part of the offer isn’t exclusive to Black Friday.
The company also increased its trade-in prices, but they’re not particularly impressive compared to what Samsung will pay for your old phones. However, Google is offering the lowest prices on older Pixel phones, at $540 for the Pixel 7 Pro and $450 for the Pixel 6 Pro.
The combination of improved trade-in prices (though still unable to match Samsung’s), a 10% money-back guarantee, Google One subscription, price match, and overall discounts make Google’s offer worth serious consideration. Even if you don’t need the extras, Google’s price match promise is a tempting offer.
