The latest Android 15 update is rolling out to Google Pixel devices, and while the leak details shared by Verizon mentioned bug fixes and security improvements, the patch does deliver one thing that was missing from the leak: the inclusion of a huge, highly anticipated battery feature: Charging Limits.
Instead of fully charging your battery every time you plug in your phone, this Android 15 battery feature will allow you to limit charging once your device hits 80%. The benefit here is that overcharging your phone can harm your battery health, draining it faster over time. Over time, stopping charging early could get you much longer at 80% than charging the same device to 100% every night.
The feature was spotted by a Pixel user and shared by Android Authority along with an image showing the new feature in the user’s phone’s settings. The feature will appear in the Battery Settings menu under the Optimize Charging subsection if you click on it if you want to search for it on your device.
We’ll wait to find out more about what features will be added in the future Android 15 update, but one upgrade that may be announced by Google soon is Jarvis, an AI assistant. Google accidentally leaked an AI that surfs the web on your behalf to the Chrome extension store before quickly removing it.
Not much is known about Jarvis yet, but it’s thought to be a more automated version of Gemini, allowing you to perform tasks in Chrome with less frequent user input, like researching flights and travel options for your next trip or looking for Christmas gifts, without the option to do something else.
While the Chrome extension is reserved for Chromebooks and PCs, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a mobile version of Jarvis available on Android and iOS relatively soon – the app will explore and perform tasks in Chrome in the background while the user is using One Play. Rewatch Marvel Snap or watch a YouTube video.
Jarvis won’t be available on mobile right away, but we expect the next Android 15 update to include at least some AI updates. We’ll have more details as we know them.
