The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 – Second Series, will commence on Friday, October 25, and run through to Friday, December 20, 2024.
According to a statement released by WAEC, the examination will be conducted in a hybrid mode, combining both computer-based and paper-based formats. The objective or multiple-choice questions will be rendered on-screen, requiring candidates to submit their answers via the computer. For essay and practical questions, candidates will view the questions on-screen but provide responses using traditional answer booklets.
Optional Paper-and-Pen Mode
WAEC also noted that candidates have the option to choose the Paper and Pen mode for the entire examination. This flexibility allows candidates to select their preferred method of taking the exam.
In a move to accommodate more candidates, the registration period has been extended to Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Additionally, the “Walk-in-Candidate” option remains available for those who wish to register up to 24 hours before a specific exam paper is scheduled to take place. The final examination timetable can be downloaded from the WAEC Nigeria website.
WAEC has urged all candidates, both intending and registered, to take advantage of the numerous learning resources it provides. These include signing up for the WAEC e-Study platform, purchasing the WAEC Past Questions and Answers booklets, and joining the WAECKonnect platform to interact with fellow candidates.
WAEC extends its best wishes to all candidates preparing for the examination and reiterates its commitment to enhancing the delivery of its services through technological innovations.
