Threads plans to roll out an update to its search feature globally in the coming weeks, which will allow users to filter searches by specific profiles and within date ranges. Threads’ existing search was a simple keyword search to find trending topics, posts, or accounts, with top and latest sorting options.
The updated version adds a settings icon to the search bar, which when tapped reveals By Date, Before Date, and From Profile options. This addition brings Threads closer to rival platforms X and Bluesky, which support advanced search features, but it’s at least just a start.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced a few days ago that Meta would be testing these filters and other improvements to Threads’ search tool, and now it’s confirmed that they will be rolling out to everyone.
While competitor Bluesky has grown as users migrate away from X, Meta has suddenly begun rolling out several long-requested updates. These include custom feeds for followers, tweaks to the For You feed algorithm to give more weight to posts from accounts you follow, and a test announced by Mark Zuckerberg giving some users the choice to make their feed default to their followers instead of the algorithm one.
